What model size is recommended and how does it affect upload and software performance?

Last updated July 2, 2026

Short Answer

vyzn currently has no officially recommended model size as a fixed number (e.g. in MB). There is, however, a clear technical upper limit: the maximum file size per upload – for IFC as well as CSV/XLSX/TSV – is configurable in the platform and is set to 1024 MB (around 1 GB) per file in the standard environment. Larger files are rejected directly in the upload dialog, with a note about the maximum file size. Below this limit, the rule of thumb is: the leaner and cleaner the model, the faster the upload and processing.

Why It Matters

The most noticeable effect of model size is not the upload itself but the subsequent Deep Model Processing (DMP), which is recommended by default for most models. During DMP, vyzn corrects and enriches the model data with AI support. How long this takes depends directly on the model size: the platform itself points out that DMP can take 5 to 30 minutes depending on model size. Since DMP processes the complete 3D geometry, very large or geometrically very complex models can slow down processing accordingly.

How It Works in vyzn

  • The maximum file size per upload is configurable and is set to 1024 MB per file in the standard environment – this applies to IFC as well as CSV, XLSX and TSV.
  • Files above this limit are rejected directly in the upload dialog, with a note about the maximum file size.
  • Deep Model Processing runs in the background: you can leave the page, optionally receive an email notification (with the option to specify a different recipient address) and return later to check the progress.

Practical Example

Upload the discipline model you actually need for the calculation – for example the architectural or structural model – instead of a coordinated overall model with building services details, furniture or high-resolution geometry. This reduces file size and processing time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an ideal model size in MB?

No, a hard ideal size in MB cannot be given. If you are unsure, send us a typical model from your project – we will then look at size, processing time and possible optimizations together.

What happens if my file is larger than 1024 MB?

It is rejected directly in the upload dialog, together with a note about the maximum file size.

Do I have to wait during Deep Model Processing?

No. Processing runs in the background – you can leave the page, receive an email notification and return later to check the progress.
