Yes and no – by design: we release every new KBOB version in vyzn and recommend working with the latest one. However, we never remove older versions – this guarantees that the data of your existing projects never changes unintentionally.
Why It Matters
LCA results must remain reproducible: a project you calculated a year ago should show the same values today. That is why every project stays on the KBOB dataset it was calculated with – new data releases do not change your existing results.
How It Works in vyzn
An existing project stays on its KBOB dataset; for new projects it is best to use the latest version (currently the official KBOB dataset 2022, KBOB/ecobau/IPB 2009/1:2022). The LCA values (greenhouse gas, UBP, embodied energy, renewable/non-renewable energy, biogenic carbon) come directly from the corresponding official dataset.
