Short Answer
You manage zones centrally in "Zone management". There you create new zones via the "Create zone" button, edit or delete existing zones via the three-dot menu of the respective row, and assign elements via drag-and-drop.
Prerequisites
- Which tabs you see in the zone dialog depends on which analysis areas are activated for your variant: in addition to "General", the tabs "Energy efficiency" and "Summer heat protection" may be added.
- The "Detect room relationships" button requires your model to have included spatial information during integration (Deep Model Processing, DMP). If DMP was skipped or the model needs to be re-integrated, the button is disabled.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Create a zone: Open the zone management area and click "Create zone". In the "General" tab, enter the zone name, area in m², volume in m³, the "Below terrain" flag and the standard-related classifications, e.g. for usage/EBF.
- Enter energy efficiency data (if activated): In the "Energy efficiency" tab you specify, among other things, regulation, heat capacity, construction project new build/conversion, the thermally effective outdoor air flow and the room height.
- Enter summer heat protection data (if activated): In the "Summer heat protection" tab you define the design heating/cooling temperature in °C, whether the zone is heated/cooled/ventilated, the number of people, and the lighting and equipment power in W/m².
- Assign elements: Drag elements into the "Assigned elements" field via drag-and-drop. To remove an assignment, drag them into the drop zone "Drag here to remove the zone assignment".
- Use room relationships (optional): If the AI-based model analysis (DMP) has been completed for your model, the "Detect room relationships" button helps you assign zones conveniently at a higher level – for example by floor or room.
- Edit or delete zones: Use the three-dot menu of the respective row. With the row checkboxes and "Delete zones" you can also remove several zones at once.
Expected Result
Your zones are recorded with all relevant details, the elements are assigned to the correct zones, and your zone structure forms the basis for clean energy and life-cycle assessment figures.
Common Mistakes
- Trying to change the colour: The colour marking of zones is assigned automatically and cannot be chosen freely.
- "Heated" without an EBF classification: If you mark a zone as "Heated" without adding an EBF classification, the system alerts you with a notice – important for clean energy and life-cycle assessment figures.
- Disabled "Detect room relationships" button: This function is only available if DMP has been completed for the model. If DMP was skipped or the model needs to be re-integrated, the button remains disabled.
Update (version 1.8.5)
As of version 1.8.5, the «Heated» checkbox is available again in the «General» tab to mark zones as heated; the estimated EBF is also now displayed rounded.
