What kind of 3D models can I use?

Last updated July 2, 2026

Short Answer

You can use 3D models in the IFC 2x3 or IFC 4x format. The CAD tool you use does not matter.

How It Works in vyzn

vyzn supports 3D models in the IFC versions IFC 2x3 and IFC 4x. It is not relevant which CAD tool the model comes from – for example, you can use models from ArchiCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Vectorworks or Rhino.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use a specific CAD tool?

No. The CAD tool you use does not matter, as long as your model is available in the IFC 2x3 or IFC 4x format.

Can I use vyzn without a 3D model, or with PDF/DWG?

Yes. Without a 3D model, you capture areas and quantities via Excel or CSV import (a template is available in the Knowledge Hub). vyzn can convert PDF floor plans or DWG drawings into a 3D model as a service. See the article “Can I use vyzn without a 3D model?” for details.

Which IFC versions are supported?

IFC 2x3 and IFC 4x.
