Can I select local climate data or weather stations, and which locations are available?

Last updated July 2, 2026

Short Answer

Yes, this is possible. When creating or editing a building, you select the appropriate climate station in the "Weather station" field. Around 40 official MeteoSwiss stations are available.

Why It Matters

The weather station and the building altitude feed into the SIA 380/1 energy calculation as well as the Minergie calculations and are mandatory for them.

How It Works in vyzn

  • When creating or editing a building, you select the appropriate climate station in the "Weather station" field.
  • If you use the address search, the nearest MeteoSwiss station is automatically suggested for Swiss locations (based on the coordinates).
  • You can manually override the suggestion at any time or leave the field set to "Not selected".
  • Outside Switzerland, no stations are assigned.

Around 40 official MeteoSwiss stations are available, including Zürich-Kloten, Zürich-MeteoSchweiz, Bern-Liebefeld, Basel-Binningen, Genève-Cointrin, Lugano, Luzern, St. Gallen, Chur, Davos, Sion, Payerne, Adelboden, Zermatt and Samedan (plus Vaduz).
