How do I calculate the area and quantity evaluation in vyzn?

Last updated July 2, 2026

Short Answer

The area and quantity evaluation in vyzn is split into two parts. The "Area and Quantity Evaluation" card (currently marked as BETA) on the model/version page shows you the areas: vyzn automatically aggregates the zone areas according to SIA 416:2003. The "Show more" button takes you to the "Area and Quantity Takeoff according to eBKP-H", where vyzn automatically sums the net component areas of your model elements into the eBKP-H structure according to D/2020.

When to Use This

Use the evaluation when you need the area hierarchy according to SIA 416:2003 – floor area GF, net floor area NGF, usable area NF with main/secondary usable area HNF/NNF, circulation area VF, functional area FF, construction area KF, plus building volume GV and the energy reference area EBF – or when you want to create a quantity takeoff according to eBKP-H and export it as CSV.

Prerequisites

  • For the areas: you have created your zones in the "Zones" section and entered the areas ("Create zones and enter areas").
  • The energy reference area EBF is derived exclusively from the SIA 380:2015 classification – deliberately not from SIA 416.
  • For the quantities: the components are assigned to the model elements, and the component layers in the component build-up carry the eBKP-H attribute.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Create your zones in the "Zones" section and enter the areas. The calculation runs automatically and appears in the "Area and Quantity Evaluation" card.
  2. Review the areas in the evaluation card: vyzn automatically aggregates the zone areas according to SIA 416:2003 into the familiar hierarchy (GF, NGF, NF with HNF/NNF, VF, FF, KF, plus GV); the EBF comes from the SIA 380:2015 classification.
  3. Click "Show more" to open the "Area and Quantity Takeoff according to eBKP-H".
  4. vyzn automatically sums the net component areas of your model elements into the eBKP-H structure according to D/2020 (chapters C construction, D building services, E external wall cladding, F roofing, G fit-out).
  5. Enter supplementary positions (e.g. pieces or m³) manually – the automatically calculated rows are read-only.
  6. Export the finished quantity takeoff as CSV with the columns SCHLÜSSEL/MENGE/EINHEIT (key/quantity/unit). During the export, you confirm once that you hold the required rights and licences for the eBKP-H 2020 structure.

Expected Result

The evaluation card shows the area hierarchy according to SIA 416:2003, including the building volume GV, as well as the energy reference area EBF. In the eBKP-H quantity takeoff, the automatically calculated rows appear mostly in m², with individual positions in linear metres m; the finished quantity takeoff can be exported as CSV.

Common Mistakes

  • Expecting the EBF to be derived from SIA 416: it is formed exclusively from the SIA 380:2015 classification.
  • Zones not created or areas not entered: without this prerequisite, the area evaluation does not appear in the card.
  • Components not assigned to the model elements, or component layers without the eBKP-H attribute: the automatic quantity takeoff will not pick them up.
  • Trying to edit automatically calculated rows: they are read-only; supplementary positions (e.g. pieces or m³) are entered manually.
