Short Answer
vyzn calculates summer thermal protection according to SIA 180 – largely automated. The feature is a dedicated vyzn module (analysis scope «ThermalProtection») and only appears if it is enabled for your tenant. Contact us if you do not see it yet.
Prerequisites
- The «summer thermal protection» analysis scope is enabled for your tenant.
- Your materials contain the thermal properties heat capacity, thermal conductivity and density.
- The building address is known – it determines the climate location.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Classify zones: In zone management, fill in the «Sommerlicher Wärmeschutz» (summer thermal protection) tab for each zone – including design temperature for heating/cooling (and whether the zone is heated or cooled), ventilation air flow and occupancy (reference value according to SIA 382/1).
- Prepare materials: Add any missing thermal properties. A validation shows you what is missing before you start.
- Simulate: On the variant, open the «Sommerlicher Wärmeschutz» card, click «Jetzt simulieren» (simulate now) and confirm the building address. vyzn automatically generates the calculation model (GBXML) and runs the SIA 180 simulation.
- Quality check: The calculation is almost fully automated – before you receive the results, we check them manually to make sure the data is correct. Allow some lead time for this (up to 5 working days).
Expected Result
You receive the «SIA 180 results» with simulated and critical rooms, maximum room temperature, overtemperature hours and a «passed» / «not passed» rating – including a PDF report and variant comparison.
Common Mistakes
- Zones without classification or materials without thermal properties – the validation shows you what is missing before the start.
- Not allowing lead time: expect up to 5 working days until the verified results.
