How do I use the 3D viewer?

Last updated July 2, 2026

Short Answer

In the 3D viewer you navigate with the toolbar (orbit, pan, zoom, fit to view), select elements with a left-click, Ctrl/Shift-click or a selection rectangle, and right-click to open a menu with actions such as “Show selection only”. The icons give you properties, model browser, section plane, measuring, exploded view and more.

Navigating

  • Orbit: Freely rotate the model around its axis.
  • Pan: Move the view in parallel.
  • Zoom: With the mouse wheel or the zoom tool; “Zoom window” draws a rectangle.
  • Fit to view: Brings the whole model back into frame (key F).

Selecting elements

  • Left-click: Select an element.
  • Ctrl or Shift-click: Add or deselect individual elements.
  • Ctrl + drag: Draw a selection rectangle over several elements.
  • Esc: Clear the selection.

Tools & icons

  • Properties (info): Shows all attributes of the selected element.
  • Model browser: Browse the model structure by levels and components.
  • Section plane: Cut along X, Y, Z or as a box.
  • Measure: Measure distance, angle, area and coordinates.
  • Exploded view: Pull components apart.
  • Show rooms: Toggle room volumes on and off.
  • Settings and full screen: Adjust the display or open the viewer in full screen.

Right-click menu

  • Show selection only: Hides everything except the selection.
  • Hide / show selection: Hidden or previously hidden elements.
  • Section plane / clear section: Add or remove a section plane.
  • Show entire building: Shows all elements again.
  • On model elements additionally: Create group, move, remove.

Good to know

The restriction (e.g. “Show selection only”) stays active even if you change the selection, and is reset when you leave the page.
