Short Answer
In vyzn, "calculating" is a short workflow of three steps: upload the model, integrate it, and start the evaluation you need. You upload your IFC file in the "Models" area, map the information from the IFC elements during integration, and then start an evaluation such as the life cycle assessment on the resulting variant with "Calculate now".
When to Use This
When you want to evaluate a 3D model (IFC) in vyzn for the first time, for example for the life cycle assessment, energy efficiency, or area and quantity determination.
Prerequisites
- An IFC file of your building (.xlsx and .csv are also supported; a file size limit applies).
- For the life cycle assessment: your building components must be linked to products with life cycle assessment data (in Switzerland based on KBOB 2022).
Step-by-Step Instructions
- In your building, open the "Models" area and click "Upload model". Drag your IFC file into the window.
- Leave the "Use Deep Model Processing" option enabled – it is recommended for most models. Your model data is corrected and enriched using AI – vyzn automatically derives what you would otherwise have to enter manually. Depending on the model size, this takes about 5 to 30 minutes. You can leave the page and optionally be notified by email when processing is complete.
- Select "Integrate" on the model. On the integration page ("Model Integration"), you see your model in the 3D viewer and map, step by step, which information from the IFC elements is used for the analyses (e.g. the life cycle assessment).
- Finish the integration. This creates a first variant (by default the "Base variant").
- On this variant, open the evaluation you need, e.g. the life cycle assessment, and start it with "Calculate now".
Expected Result
You have a first variant of your model with a calculated result, e.g. the life cycle assessment. On the same variant, further evaluations are available, such as energy efficiency (SIA 380/1), SIA 2032, material costs, and area and quantity determination according to eBKP-H.
Common Mistakes
- The life cycle assessment cannot be calculated: this happens when your building components are not linked to products with life cycle assessment data (in Switzerland based on KBOB 2022). vyzn then reports that the model is not yet linked to such products.
- The upload fails because of the file size: a size limit applies to uploaded files.
