Success Story: ABZ - Siedlung Kanzlei
Faster & more sustainable to the goal ⚡ vyzn enables well-founded decisions for ABZ
The replacement new build of the Siedlung Kanzlei of the Allgemeine Baugenossenschaft Zürich is intended to increase the housing offering from 150 to over 200 units. The project places high demands on sustainability and will make a positive contribution to the quality of life in the neighborhood.
Challenge
- Identify a sustainable construction method in the preliminary project that meets the City of Zurich's housing subsidy requirements
- Compare construction methods in terms of CO2 emissions during construction and costs, with a focus on floor slabs
- How much savings does a timber construction bring?
Results
- 3D/BIM models evaluated with vyzn's AI
- Several project variants created & compared: hybrid construction (structure in solid construction, timber facade) as well as two timber construction variants
- Automated calculation of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE) and embodied energy
- Transparent results show that the timber construction causes about 20% less GHGE compared to the hybrid construction. However, the cost analysis shows that the construction costs for the timber construction are 5% higher
- Fast, data-based evaluation that supports well-founded decision-making and creates the basis for further planning
