vyzn x BOP: Simulate summer thermal protection automatically, with no manual effort

Summer thermal protection is becoming increasingly important in planning. Rising summer temperatures, high proportions of glazing and lightweight construction mean that, for more complex buildings, the verification according to SIA 180 can often only be provided via a dynamic simulation. In practice, however, this step is often tied to extra effort.

The challenge:

In many projects, the additional effort comes not from the simulation itself, but from building a separate simulation model. Planning data is exported and a dedicated, simulatable model is rebuilt from scratch (typically LOD 200-300). Along the way, usage zones, shading surfaces, component assemblies and further boundary conditions all have to be defined.

Changes to geometry or facades frequently lead to repeated adjustments of this model. Especially in early planning phases, where variants have to be compared quickly, often and precisely, this creates an enormous amount of extra work.

The solution:

vyzn enables dynamic building simulation according to SIA 180 (method 3) through a direct interface to BOP. At the push of a button, the relevant data from your architecture model is transmitted to BOP's simulation environment. Once the calculation is complete, the results flow back automatically into the vyzn platform.

That means:

  • No separate model: simulation directly on the basis of the existing architecture model.
  • No system change: neither separate software licences nor IT infrastructure are needed.
  • Automated return: results flow back into the vyzn platform as a PDF report and a standard-compliant data set.

Why automation increases planning reliability

Thanks to the integration, the manual modelling effort is reduced significantly. This means summer thermal protection can be simulated and adjusted repeatedly as early as the early planning phases. Late corrections can thus be better avoided, which can also save costs.

The entire process stays within a consistent digital project context. Variants can be compared within a few minutes, without having to rebuild a complete model with every adjustment.

Conclusion: one step closer to holistic project optimisation

With the partnership with BOP, summer thermal protection is structurally embedded into the digital planning process. The vyzn App Suite is thus extended by the important dimension of comfort.

This is a decisive step towards holistic project optimisation without media breaks. Verification according to SIA 180 is only the beginning. We are already working on extending the platform with further simulations such as cooling load, heating load and daylight simulation, to give you an even more comprehensive basis for decisions.
