More than 3D/BIM-ready: How DMP is transforming planning processes
A few days ago, Google presented the Agent Payments Protocol V2. The idea behind it: AI agents work together in networks and settle the services they provide directly via financial transactions. In this ecosystem, entire industries could organize their value creation through autonomous actors. In the long term, the model is meant to replace the classic SaaS principle – a development that Satya Nadella predicted as much as half a year ago.
And where do we stand in the construction industry?
Honestly: not even properly in the SaaS era yet. We are more in a pre-SaaS world: desktop programs, emails, isolated solutions. The promised digitalization of planning processes has so far delivered little.
We see three central reasons for this:
- Economic interests Contracts create conflicts of interest. As long as the many actors in the fragmented value chain are not incentivized toward a common goal in the interest of the building owner, the economic incentive for genuine optimization is missing.
- Standardization Transactions between organizations are reflected in construction through standards – above all the SIA standards. Yet only a fraction of these have so far been digitally standardized. Without a common digital language, there is also no functioning digital ecosystem.
- Technology The industry talks about integral planning but has not yet created the technical prerequisites for it.
Technology as the bottleneck
It is precisely at the third point that we want to start at vyzn. New methods for integral planning sound good – interdisciplinary, efficient, in the interest of the building owner. But: without the right technological basis, they remain theory.
With classic "BIM-ready" or "3D model-ready" software, many manual steps are still necessary:
- High data maintenance effort: Architecture teams have to enter extensive information into the architecture model, a process that does not scale and represents additional costs for the project.
- Lack of automation: Building models have to be manually reworked and redrawn for analyses and simulations, which is why these are done too late and too infrequently in the project, leading to overlooked risks and missed optimization potential.
- Low interoperability: Switching between tools fragments the process and turns digital data back into analog work steps.
The result: instead of efficiency gains, new silos and friction losses arise.
And what is manual is expensive. This is how the idea of a fast, iterative planning process fails on costs.
From BIM-ready to DMP-ready
What is needed is a further development: away from merely BIM-ready software toward Deep Model Processing (DMP).
DMP is based on three principles:
- Universal preparation Every 3D building model – even simple architecture models – is prepared by the system so that it can be used immediately and reliably for analyses and simulations, for example on sustainability, costs or comfort. The architecture team does not have to observe any special information guidelines for this.
- Automatic enrichment If certain information is missing for an analysis or simulation, the system adds it automatically. Users always retain the option to manually override or fine-tune the values.
- Automatic error correction Incorrect information is detected and automatically corrected by the system. Here, too, users can intervene and adjust the corrections if needed.

A paradigm shift in planning processes
The technical result of vyzn's DMP capability is the vyzn reference model. It is generated automatically for every building model that is imported and forms the basis for the next evolutionary stage: interdisciplinary optimization proposals through AI.
Already today, with the DMP method as a startup, we have built up an extensive body of data. Our analyses show: area figures often deviate considerably, element types are incorrect, topological information is completely missing – and entire rooms are sometimes not present in the models at all. All these challenges can be automatically detected and reliably remedied with DMP.
The paradigm shift from BIM to DMP capability enables planning teams to significantly shorten iteration cycles – and thus to establish an agile, interdisciplinary planning methodology. This makes planning not only more efficient, but also more well-founded, more transparent and more future-proof.
