Success Story: Canton Graubünden

The Building Authority of the Canton of Graubünden (Hochbauamt Graubünden) is now using vyzn to analyse project designs from the preliminary design stage onwards and to compare alternative variants objectively. The starting point is the refurbishment and extension of the Bündner Naturmuseum in Chur.
Why this matters
The most important decisions in a construction project are made early: in the preliminary design, when changes are still cheap and feasible. Yet this is exactly the phase where the data is usually missing. Comprehensive analyses traditionally take weeks, which is why many decisions rest on experience and judgement rather than on solid numbers.
The consequences often only show up late: expensive redesigns when sustainability gaps become visible, and optimisation potential left unused because every additional variant costs time and money.
What the Building Authority of Graubünden does differently
The Building Authority is deliberately moving this step earlier. With vyzn, project designs are analysed from the preliminary design stage and alternative variants are compared against each other. This makes it possible to spot opportunities early and reduce risks before decisions become expensive.

The first project: Bündner Naturmuseum, Chur
The starting point is the refurbishment and extension of the Bündner Naturmuseum in Chur. An existing building with an extension is a demanding and at the same time ideal use case: in refurbishments in particular, the early phase determines which substance is preserved and which interventions are worthwhile.
How the analysis works
vyzn uses AI to extract key figures on CO2, energy and comfort directly from the 3D or IFC model, compliant with SIA standards. This allows several variants to be reviewed quickly and reliably as early as the preliminary design.
